Northampton School Thriving as Ofsted Recognises Excellence Across the Board

Northampton School is celebrating an excellent Ofsted inspection report, which highlights the school's strong standards across all areas and recognises the outstanding progress made since opening its doors just three years ago.

Inspectors praised the school's achievement, behaviour and attendance, curriculum, inclusion, leadership, governance, and personal development, while noting that safeguarding arrangements are fully effective.

In the report, inspectors describe a school where "pupils thrive in this ambitious and inclusive school" and are "proud of their school". They highlighted the warm and respectful relationships between staff and students, noting that pupils feel safe, have a strong sense of belonging and trust staff to act on any concerns.

The report also commends the school's culture of high expectations, stating that pupils behave very well, lessons are "calm and purposeful", and attendance is well above national averages. Inspectors found that students benefit from an ambitious curriculum, expert teaching and extensive opportunities beyond the classroom, with participation in clubs, sport, music, drama and leadership activities described as "extremely high".

Ofsted recognised the school's commitment to both academic success and personal development, noting that pupils "achieve well, academically and socially" and are "very well prepared for their next steps in education". The report concludes that "the school's ambition for pupils to succeed academically and personally is evident in every aspect of school life."

The inspection also identified leadership as a significant strength, recognising the school's clear and ambitious vision, strong culture of professional development, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Headteacher, Mr Matthew Edwards, said: "We are absolutely delighted with this report, which truly reflects the hard work and dedication of all teaching and support staff who have been part of the journey since the school opened three years ago. It is also of great credit to the students and parents who have bought into the school's vision, which focuses on extracurricular activities alongside our drive for academic excellence."

The report also highlighted the school's inclusive ethos, praising the way all pupils are supported to achieve and thrive. Inspectors noted that students who face barriers to learning are very well supported and included fully in lessons, enrichment opportunities and wider school life.

Executive Headteacher of The NSB Trust, Mr Richard Bernard, said: "We are immensely proud that Ofsted has recognised Northampton School for its all-round excellence and this incredibly strong report is a testament to the dedication, ambition and hard work of our students, staff, governors and trustees since the school opened in 2023. As part of the NSB Trust, we are committed to ensuring that every young person flourishes both academically and personally, and this report affirms that Northampton School is delivering on that commitment.
