Admissions Quick Guide

Admissions Quick Guide for September 2026 entry

Parents/Carers and children should attend one of the Presentation Evening sessions and read all the information that is on the school website to help you decide whether Northampton School is the right school for your child.

Click here to see information provided at our Presentation Evenings.

The school will admit 10% of its total entry on aptitude for Sport and Performing Arts (Dance/Drama/Music). There are optional tests for these areas in October before the application deadline. Your child does not have to do these tests if you feel they do not have an aptitude (natural ability) in these areas and it will not harm their application to the school if they do not. Please read the information that relates specifically to these tests on the 'Optional Aptitude Tests' link or click here.

Apply to us using the link on our website to complete the Northampton School Application Form. You must do this by midnight on Friday 31st October 2025.

We will email you about our Common Ability Test which takes place on Saturday 15th November 2025 which all applicants* to the school have to take. You will receive this email by the end of Friday 7th November at the latest with all the information related to this.

Please ensure that you read carefully any information that we send to you with regard to any of the admissions events.

The Local Authority will let you know the outcome of your application on National Offer Day, Monday 2nd March 2026.

*Please note that boys who apply to both Northampton School and Northampton School for Boys for September 2026 entry will only have to take the Common Ability Test once. Parents must, however, complete separate applications for each school in order to be considered for a place at each school.
